A Holiday Gift From Good Space: Nominate a New Yorker for a Free Day of Organizing

Every December, I feel the same mix of emotions so many New York parents do: the excitement of the season, the pressure to make it magical, the school events that multiply overnight, the sudden avalanche of art projects, costume pieces, and mystery plastic. We’re holding the holidays together with tape, twine, and willpower… all while trying to keep our homes livable.

It’s a lot. And some are carrying far more than “a lot.”

This year, at Good Space, we wanted to offer something that goes beyond a quick tip or a pretty organizing reel. We wanted to give real, tangible relief, the kind that lets a person breathe again, walk into their home without flinching, and feel ready for the season instead of already behind.

So we’re giving away a handful of free full-day organizing sessions to deserving New Yorkers who could use a reset before the holidays.

Why We’re Doing This

If there’s anything I’ve learned working inside hundreds of homes, it’s this: clutter is never just clutter. It’s the laundry backed up because someone is caring for an aging parent. It’s the piles of outgrown clothes because a mom is recovering from a hard year. It’s the toys that have taken over because work has been nonstop and no one has had a minute to think.

When a space feels chaotic, everything else feels harder, especially during the holidays.

A single day of thoughtful, hands-on organizing can genuinely shift the mood of a home. I’ve watched parents cry from relief when they see their bedroom floor again. I’ve seen playrooms come back to life. I’ve witnessed families start the new year with a sense of capability instead of overwhelm.

We want to offer that feeling to families who may not be able to make it happen on their own right now.

Who Can Be Nominated

Anyone. Truly.

  • A NYC mom who has been holding it all together.

  • A family adjusting to a new baby.

  • A parent caring for a relative.

  • A neighbor going through a tough season.

  • A teacher who gives so much and never has time to reset her own space.

  • Yourself. YES, please nominate yourself if you need it.

This isn’t about “who has the saddest story.” It’s about real New Yorkers who would deeply benefit from a day of professional organizing to help them create breathing room again.

What the Winners Receive

Each selected person or family will receive:

  • A full day (8 hours) of professional organizing from Good Space

  • One trained organizer on site

  • Thoughtful planning and prep beforehand

  • Product recommendations and sourcing support (only if desired—we can also work entirely with what you already own!)

  • Hands-on sorting, editing, systems design, and a full reset of the chosen space

We’ll tailor the day to the individual's needs, whether that’s a kid’s room overhaul, a kitchen clean-out, a deep reset of a bedroom, or a full declutter before holiday hosting.

How to Nominate Someone (or Yourself)

Just fill out this quick form:

It takes two minutes. Tell us who you’re nominating, the space that needs help, and why you think this family deserves a reset right now. You can keep it brief or share as much as you’d like.

We’ll select families based on need, timing, and where we can make the biggest impact. Winners will be contacted directly.

Why This Matters (Especially Now)

New York parents are some of the most resilient people I’ve ever met. We are doing childcare in walk-ups, sharing one bathroom with four people, keeping strollers in hallways, meal-prepping on 18 inches of counter space, nursing babies during Zoom calls, and folding laundry at midnight because that’s the only quiet moment of the day.

But even the strongest families need help sometimes. And asking for help is not a weakness — it’s a way of making room for the life you want to live.

Our hope is that these organizing days give a few families the ability to step into the holidays with less chaos, more calm, and a home that supports them instead of drains them.

A Note to the Moms Reading This

If you have a friend in mind, send them this link. If you’ve been quietly coping with overwhelm yourself, please throw your name in. There is zero judgment — only support.

Good Space was built on the belief that every family deserves a home that works with them, not against them. And sometimes the most generous thing you can do — for someone you love or for yourself — is to create space to breathe again.

Nominate Here

We’ll accept submissions through December 12, 2025. Winners will be selected shortly after.

Sending love, clarity, and courage to every NYC family navigating the holiday whirlwind. You’re doing beautifully, even if it doesn’t feel that way right now.
